Hockey Day in Lockport will be full of character -- or characters, as it were.

Frosty the Snowman, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer and Santa's Elves will be on hand at Cornerstone Community Federal Credit Union Arena throughout the day during Saturday's Hockey Day in Lockport.

The Christmas characters will be joined intermittently by the Cornerstone Arena Lock Monster and by Sabretooth from 2:30 - 3:30 p.m.

Also, just announced today: three more hockey games. The Lockport Lake Effect Hockey Association will hold a 6U jamboree from 8 - 10 a.m., while the Lockport Lake Effect Squirt team will play a game immediately following -- at 10 a.m.

The 6U jamboree, will consist of two teams from Lake Effect, ages 6 and under playing each other, as well as two teams from the Niagara Junior Purple Eagles Hockey Association. That means two half-ice games will be going on simultaneously. Then at 10 a.m., the Squirt team game will consist of players age 9 and 10, meaning patrons have hockey to watch while enjoying their breakfast, which Taylor & Reynolds Funeral Home has signed on to sponsor.

In all, Hockey Day in Lockport now includes nine full hockey games and a smattering of other smaller games throughout the day -- plus the figure skating demonstration, free family skate, a free learn to skate program, ceremonies, festivities, and all the off-ice family fun.
