A sledge hockey game slated for 7:30 p.m. Nov. 28 at Cornerstone CFCU Arena -- part of Hockey Day in Lockport -- is slated to feature Olympic gold medal winners.

The game, one of the first sledge hockey games to be played at the arena, will be played on NHL Rink 2 -- also known as the Clarence Mustangs rink. Invented in Sweden in 1960, sledge hockey -- or sled hockey -- follows all the same rules as regular ice hockey, but it played on a small single-blade sled to allow athletes with certain disabilities to compete.

Olympic gold medalists Adam Page and Paul Schaus were honorary co-chairs of the capital campaign to help build Cornerstone Arena, Both men are from Western New York and earned sledge hockey gold medals for the United States in sled hockey at the Sochi winter games.
