An art exhibit designed to bring awareness to the domestic violence opens Saturday at Lockside Art Center. October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
The exhibit, entitled "Voices of DV," features nearly two dozen works from six people whose lives were touched by domestic violence. The pieces -- from painting, to drawings, to photos and mixed media -- will touch on a range of emotions and experiences by those who have been confronted with domestic violence in some form in their own lives.
The public is invited to come share in their strength and courage while taking in the inspiring artwork they have created.
The exhibit, which runs through Oct. 31, will have an opening reception from 2-4 p.m. Oct. 25 at the Lockside Art Center, 21 Main St., Suite 208.
As the artists explain, "In many cases, the cycle of abuse relies on secrecy … so please come help to shine light on this important topic."
