Walter C. Thorman passed away February 20, 2016 in Eastern Niagara Hospital, Lockport, NY.  

Born April 4, 1936 in Lockport, the son of Walter J. and Jean Moore Thorman. “Wally” as he was known retired as a senior vice-president of the Lockport Savings Bank in 1992 after 25 years. He was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church serving as an Elder, past president of the congregation and member of the Trinity Men’s Club of the church; he also was a long time member of the Lockport Rotary Club, served on the Town of Lockport Planning Board, Chamber of Commerce, served on the Lockport Realtor Board, Consumer Credit Board. In his spare time “Wally” enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing, but his real enjoyment came from spending time with his whole family.

“Wally” is survived by his wife Shirley Litz Thorman; father of Todd Thorman, Wendy Davidson and Molly (Phillip) Kazmierczak all of Lockport; grandfather of Nicholas Davidson, Brent and Bonnie Thorman, Tyler, Alexa and Olivia Kazmierczak. He is the brother of the late Shirley Casagrande, Helen Bedford and Dorothy “Honey” Rathke, and is also survived by nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call from 3-7 p.m. Monday February 22, 2016 in Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport, NY. Funeral services will be held Tuesday February 23, 2016 at 10 AM in Trinity Lutheran Church, 67 Saxton Street, Lockport, NY.  Memorials to the Trinity Lutheran Church, Abiding Memorial Fund, 67 Saxton Street, Lockport, NY 14094 or to a charity of one’s choice, would be appreciated by the family.
