Martin's graphite wash rendition of a nude "Julie" was deemed by a three-judge panel consisting of ART247 owner Heather Grimmer, Master Resident Artist Joe Buczkowski, and former owner Sally Bisher to be the best of the 30 pieces submitted in the gallery exhibit during the show's opening.
Sally Reid took the second place ribbon for her pastel and water color "Birch Trees in Winter," while Susan Jagow took third place for a finger etching made with burnt wood entitled "Hidden." Kim Richau took the "People's Choice" award for her clay sculpture, "Homeless and Hungry."
ART247, formerly Market Street Art Studios, is located at 247 Market Street. The exhibit runs through April 3.
