walk from Lockport to Albany. (CONTRIBUTED PHOTO)
NEWARK — A pair of Newfane women walking from Lockport to Albany entered their second week of the walk today, completing 91 miles so far of a 400-mile trip.

Seventy-one-year-old Margaret Brant and 53-year-old Ruthy Warda started Sept. 1 on what is expected to be a 25-day trek across the state to raise money for Lockport CARES.

According to Lockport CARES, the ladies ran across a couple of men today who were biking the Erie Barge Canal who brought them chocolate — and made a donation to the homeless shelter.

"The dynamic duo walked a little less today, the sun was just too hot," according to Lockport CARES. They are currently spending the night in Newark.

Donations to the cause can be made in person at the "Up the Lake Shop," every weekend in September, located on the Olcott boardwalk or online at www.lockportcares.org using credit card or PayPal.
