NEWFANE — Niagara County Sheriff's deputies responded to a report of a gun found in the roadway near Newfane High School on Thursday. It turned out to be only a pellet gun.
According to the NCSO report, the original call stated he found "a gun laying in the road on Transit Road in Newfane."
"Upon arrival, (patrol) determined that the gun was a toy, due to its orange colored tip, and removed it from the roadway," according to the police report. "Upon further examination of the toy gun it was determined that it was a pellet gun. The pellet gun was broken and appeared to have been run over several times by passing vehicles.
