ENP STAFF REPORTS

Three hockey teams kick off their on-ice training camps tonight. They're all known as the Lockport Express.

The Junior A team that drew crowds and scored goals in bunches last year is joined this season by an 18U and 15U team this season. Each team starts on-ice training tonight at Cornerstone CFCU Arena.

Frank Vecchio, head coach and general manager of the Junior A squad, said the "teams are shaping up nicely."

The 18U team will be coached by Lyle Rocker, while Jay Tagliarino will be at the help of the 15U squad.

The younger teams form a sort of de-facto farm system for the Junior A team, which opens its 2015-2016 season on Sept. 11.

Vecchio said he and team owner Steve Bueme are "excited to be growing our program."

The team is still looking for host families for some of the team's players. Housing families are paid a monthly stipend for each player housed. Background checks and in-home visits are performed during the selection process. If you are interested in becoming a housing family, contact Vecchio via email at fvecchioexpress@gmail.com or by phone at 863-1459.
