Adah E. Bailey was born May 31, 1944 in Lockport NY to the late George Payne, Sr. and Glenada (Van Cleaf) Holmes. Adah retired from Harrison Radiator in 1996 after over 20 years in production.  Though she was a hard worker, she also knew how to have fun and made every even special. Adah can always be remembered, along with her husband Henry for hosting parties, picnics, and get together at their home on South Street. Adah enjoyed cooking and was famous for her potato salad which was the highlight of said events.  Adah enjoyed caring for others and was known as a “second mom” to many offering advice, love, and companionship.  The South Street home was always filled with visitors and love as a result.

Adah was known for her strength and was called home February 19, 2015 after a long battle with multiple illnesses.  Adah was cared for in her last days by her daughters Lynnette Mourning, Renee Bailey, Bonnett Golson Jr., Veronica Bell, Sylvia Speight and special aide and “adopted daughter” Mary Anne Kane She was surrounded by her loving family and welcomed into heaven by those who had passed before her. She was predeceased by her loving and devoted husband Henry L. Bailey on May 16, 2004.

Adah is survived by her beloved daughters Lynnette Mourning of Lancaster, Renee Bailey of Lockport, and Michelle Bailey of Lancaster; Her loving grandchildren Tracey Johnson, Jr., Shaniece Bailey, Aliah Bailey Carson, and Aidan Bailey-Priest. She is also survived by her cherished siblings Vera Mack of Buffalo, Sylvia (Joe) Speight of Lockport, Dolores Rountree of Lockport, Clara Payne of Buffalo, George Payne, Jr. of Lockport, Joseph Payne of Lockport, Andre Payne of Lockport, Julie Payne of Buffalo, Anderson Davis of Lockport. She is also surived by her  extended family mother in law Sarah (Bailey) McMichael, brother in laws  Robert Williams, Wayne McMichael, and  sister in law Laverne Campbell all of Georgia.

Adah is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her loving siblings the late Betty Bell, Wylie Womack, and Jeffrey Fritz and brother in law the late Ed McMichael of Georgia.

Relatives and friends may call Monday, February 23rd 2-4 and 7-9 PM in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport where funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 24th at 11 AM.  Interment will be in Cold Springs Cemetery.  Memorial donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or at www.stjude.org would be appreciated by the family.
