A 22-year-old Lockport man was charged with harassment, criminal mischief and menacing following an incident on Monday.
According to the Niagara County Sheriff's Office, Matthew J. Lequeux took a woman's phone while in a verbal argument with her, preventing her from calling for help, and threatened to harm her with a weapon that he had in his possession. Eventually, the woman was able to get her phone back and text a family member for help.
The family member, in turn, called police, who showed up at the scene and charged Lequeux with second-degree harassment, fourth-degree criminal mischief and second-degree menacing.
He was arraigned in the Town of Lockport Court and remanded to Niagara County Jail in lieu of $1,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in the Lockport Court on a later date.
