CAMBRIA — A 44-year-old Rapids man was charged Friday morning with menacing a Cambria woman.

John D. Watson, 6477 Rapids Road, got into an argument with the woman in which he threatened to "injure and/or kill her in various ways," according to the Niagara County Sheriff's Office.

He then left the area in a motor vehicle prior to patrol's arrival. However, he was later found in his vehicle at a Saunders Settlement Road bank, where he was taken into custody.

In addition to third-degree menacing, he was also charged with second-degree harassment and arraigned on those charges in Cambria Town Court before being taken to Niagara County Jail and held on $500 bail.

He is set to return to court on April 7 for further proceedings.

CAMBRIA — A City of Lockport woman told Niagara County Sheriff's deputies that she was assaulted by another woman while in her truck in the driveway of a North Ridge Road home.

The woman said she was waiting in her truck when the other woman, Bridgette McGarvin, no age or address given, pulled into the driveway around 10:20 a.m. Saturday. The complainant said she tried to lock the passenger door of her truck but before she could do so, McGarvin pulled it open, grabbed her by the hair and began punching her.

The Lockport woman also said as she was trying to get away, McGarvin began kicking her. After the altercation ended, McGarvin is alleged to have said "I'm gonna stab you while your sleeping" as she walked away and left in her vehicle.

Patrol was able to speak with McGarvin, who agreed to meet patrol on Cottage Street in the City of Lockport to discuss the incident. She admitted to patrol that she "made a stupid decision and things got carried away."

McGarvin was charged with second-degree harassment and third-degree menacing. She was arraigned in Town of Cambria Court and released on her own recognizance.

A Town of Lockport man told Niagara County Sheriff's deputies that someone tailgated, tried to cut him off, and tried to hit his vehicle with their truck Wednesday night.

The complainant said that as he was driving home from work around 7:30 p.m., he noticed a black pickup truck tailgating him as he was driving, driven by a man he knew to be Christopher Ventura. The black pickup truck cut him off and Ventura exited the vehicle, blocking the lane of traffic, the report said. The complainant said that he swerved around Ventura and continued to his destination. He told patrol that as he was pulling into his destination, the pickup truck crossed over the lane of traffic and attempted to strike his vehicle. Ventura then got out of his truck and began yelling at the complainant and stating that he was going to kill him.

Patrol was to obtain a warrant for the arrest of the Ventura on charges of third-degree menacing and second-degree harassment, according to the incident report.
