A Checkered Tavern Road reported to Niagara County Sheriff's deputies on Sunday that someone had stolen his handgun from his vehicle.

The man told police that he had placed the gun in the glove box after target shooting at the range and when he returned home around 4 p.m. on Saturday, he forgot to remove it from the vehicle. The complainant told patrol that his vehicle was in his driveway but that the driver door was unlocked. Another vehicle that was also in the driveway with the door unlocked had been entered but nothing was removed.

The gun was a La Fury 25 caliber ACP. The complainant has a valid New York State Pistol Permit issued by Niagara County. He was advised to contact the Niagara County Pistol Permit Office in regards to the incident. A NYSPIN message was completed in regards to the incident. The gun is believed to be valued at $60.
