PB&J Drive passes 10,000 jars

Lockport's fourth-annual Peanut Butter & Jelly Drive ended 2013 on a high note - with 10,731 jars of peanut butter, jelly and fluff, according to the drive's Facebook page.

 The drive expanded in both geography and donations in 2013, with new drop off locations stretching from Rochester to Hamburg. 

 "I cannot fathom the dedication and time spent with volunteers and family drives, and individuals sacrificing the time spent dedicated to our little drive that could," said drive organizer Pete Robinson. "We are so proud of our WNY team, especially those who have given so much to allow for our littlest and eldest to have a fighting chance."

 The overwhelming total so far isn't even the end of it. Drive organizers say donations continue to come in and not all collection sites have been accounted for.

    This group is a true testament to the power of the individual. One individual (Pete Robinson) thought up the idea. Others soon joined in. Tina Sheeley, Mike Barlass and others found that they could help too. It all started with "one". One person, one jar of peanut butter,one jar of jelly...
