UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio -- Roserita DiMillo, of Lockport is a member of the John Carroll University women's lacrosse team that has received national recognition for academic excellence.
The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) and Zag Sports have named the JCU Blue Streaks to the Division III Academic Honor Squad for the 2014-2015 season.
"In the first year of women's varsity lacrosse, we are very proud of our accomplishments," said Senior Director of Athletics Laurie Massa, who also referenced the team's significant community service efforts. "The dedication of these players is a testimony to their individual and collective commitment to academics, and to the Jesuit ideal of serving others," she noted.
The team received the IWLCA/Zag Sports honor for maintaining a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher. John Carroll was among 128 Division III honorees to be recognized and 266 total programs across Division I, II, III and NAIA.
Rachel Dell is the head coach. In her first year at the helm, the women's lacrosse team had a successful season, finishing 10-5, including a 3-2 record in the Ohio Athletic Conference.
John Carroll University, founded in 1886 as Saint Ignatius College, is located in University Heights, Ohio, in suburban Cleveland. The University was renamed in 1923 to honor America's first Catholic Bishop, John Carroll of Maryland.
