Joe Malahosky, a life-long resident of Lockport, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, at Beechwood Nursing Home on September 11, 2015. He was 89.

He was a well-known, long-time employee at Harrison Radiator, retiring in 1982 as the Safety Supervisor at all four plants in Lockport and Buffalo. After retiring from Harrison's, he and his son-in-law Don started Select Systems, a Lockport-based security and electronics company. He graduated from Erie County Technical Institute in 1955 with an Associate's Degree in Mechanical Technology. Joe was also a veteran of World War II and the Korean War, serving in the Unites States Navy. He was an avid and accomplished golfer and bowler. He is predeceased by his mother Katherine (Mularzyk) and his father Alexander, as well as 10 brothers and sisters.

He is survived by Betty (Starkweather), his wife of 55 years and children Mary (Patrick) Feeley, Cindra (Donald) Enzinna of Lockport and Mark (Helen) Malahosky of Webster, NY.  Of all the accolades, positions and titles in Joe had, the one he cherished the most was “Papa” to Carrie(Robert) Brawn, Elizabeth (James) Ornella, Jonathan (Elizabeth) Ornella, Erin Feely, Sara, Lauren, and Nicholas Malahosky and 7 great-children, many nieces and nephews, as well as adoring family pets.

Services will be held at Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport on Tuesday, September 15th from 2-4PM and 6-8PM. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at All Saints Parish, 75 Church St., Lockport on Wednesday September 15th at 10 AM, and burial at Cold Springs Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations in Joe's memory to the Alzheimer's Association or a charity of your choice.
