Third-Ward Alderwoman Kathryn "Kitty" Fogle has released a statement via email in response to a letter from Mike White demanding her resignation.
White's letter was published by East Niagara Post earlier today. It alleges the Fogle engaged in an argument with a family member of his and demands she step down from her position as alderwoman.
Fogle's email does not address White's request that she step down and says the conversation between her and his family member — White's sister — "was a private conversation between two friends of almost 20 years."
Fogle, who is seeking re-election, said it is White who has made the matter personal, calling her vote to reduce the treasurer's salary and duties "one of the most difficult decisions I've had to make in office ..."
Fogle's letter, which was received by East Niagara Post at 9:35 p.m., follows in its entirety.

I'm sorry that Mr. White decided to make this personal. My vote last week was one of the most difficult decisions I've had to make in office thus far despite being friends with members of his family. I voted for what I believe is in the best interest of the city of Lockport. Unfortunately I've been forced to make tough decisions lately that are not popular with everyone and some have resulted in necessary cuts and layoffs as was the case here. As for my discussion with Mike's sister, that was a private conversation between two friends of over 20 years.
