ENP STAFF REPORTS
news@eastniagarapost.com
A fund has been created to help the family of Avery Gardner with funeral costs.
Gardner died this morning as a result of a boating accident on Ellicott Creek in the Town of Tonawanda. According to Town of Tonawanda Police, she was standing in the boat as it passed under a pedestrian bridge and struck her head.
The gofundme account created by Liz Sherman aims to raise $5,000 for her funeral.
The account description calls Gardner a "beautiful 16-year-old girl" with "such a loving and goofy personality."
"She always made sure everyone was happy before she made her own self happy. She was the best little and middle sister and an amazing aunt anyone could ever ask for," it states. "Avery was such a smart girl. It's sad to say that God has taken her from us so soon but we know that her goofy personality and beautiful self is watching over all of us. We love you so much baby girl. Rest in paradise. You'll be missed dearly."
The page for donations is http://www.gofundme.com/wsk3bdg. In three hours, the fund has raised $270.
Town of Tonawanda Police had withheld her name earlier pending notification of family.
