Maria Donata Colangelo DiPasquale, of Lockport, passed away on Monday, June 15, 2015.
She was born to the late Antonio Colangelo and Maddalena Fuccillo on August 9, 1945, in the town of Bella, in the Province of Basilicata, Italy. Maria moved with her parents to Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada in 1961. She married Francesco DiPasquale on July 4, 1964, and were together for more than 50 years.
Maria worked at College Inn canning factory with many of her friends from the West Side of Lockport. She also worked briefly at Harrison Radiator, but was best known for her time as head chef at DiCenso’s Restaurant for 11 years.
Known for her enormous loving heart and great cooking and baking, she loved to entertain her family and friends as often as possible. She also enjoyed knitting, gardening, and playing blackjack and cards with her friends.
Maria is survived by her husband Francesco, her son Joseph (Don Elick), daughter Anna Maria (Matthew Munn) and son Anthony. She also leaves behind numerous loving relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094-1231.
Friends may call on Friday, June 19, 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport, NY 14094. There will also be a memorial service on Saturday, June 20 at 11:00 a.m. at Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home.
