ENP STAFF REPORTS
news@eastniagarapost.com
Lockport police aren't releasing details at the moment, but confirmed that they're involved in a "rescue call."
Numerous police vehicles and an ambulance sped down East Avenue towards East Niagara Hospital-Lockport around 10 p.m. Two more did the same around 10:20 p.m. LPD confirms that police are currently at the hospital. They are reportedly waiting to escort someone from the hospital.
Police declined to offer who the injured party is or how the injury occurred.
Lockport police are manning intersections along the South Transit Street in the city, while South Lockport Fire Police is manning South Transit Road intersections in the town and New York State Troopers are waiting at South Transit and Fisk roads to pick up from there and escort the ambulance/patient — likely to another hospital. It's not known why Mercy Flight is not being used.
Travelers may want to avoid Transit Road for the time being.
East Niagara Post will provide more details when we receive them.
UPDATE: The police/ambulance motorcade left Eastern Niagara Hospital-Lockport at approximately 12:24 p.m., headed south towards Erie County.
UPDATE: 'Rescue call' was for premature baby
