ENP STAFF REPORTS

A 28-year-old Niagara Street man was charged with assault, harassment and other crimes early Saturday morning at a Main Street bar.

According to the LPD arrest report, Damien D. Speck, 407 Niagara St., Side Apt., was asked to leave Lock 34 and punched two staff members while he was being escorted from the bar.

When police arrived and put Speck in custody, he “began to slam his face against the rear of patrol car 26,” according to the arrest report. In doing so, he cracked one of the windows of the car. Once he was placed inside the car, he “began kicking and thrashing in the back of the car.”

“The suspect was kicking the doors with his feet and throwing his body against the seat and the divider,” the report said. “The suspect’s actions then caused the rear window to break completely,” causing about $300 damage and causing the arresting officer to get a cut on his left upper arm while removing Speck from the vehicle.

He was transferred to another patrol car and taken to LPD, where he was given medical treatment from Twin Cities Ambulance and then taken to Eastern Niagara Hospital-Lockport.

Speck is due in City Court Monday morning on charges of third-degree criminal mischief, third-degree assault, second-degree obstruction of governmental administration, resisting arrest, and two counts of second-degree harassment.
