A 19-year-old North Transit Street man was charged with third-degree assault and second-degree reckless endangerment for allegedly firing a BB gun at a Cottage Street man.

Derrick T. Washburn Jr., 182 North Transit St., Apt. 1, reportedly approached the man while he was on his porch Tuesday evening and threatened to shoot him with what the complainant believed to be a real gun. Washburn told the man to get off the porch, which the man did.

Washburn then shot approximately six rounds at the man’s left shoulder, according to the police report. It was then determined to be a BB gun. However, the impact of the BBs left a small wound on the complainant’s shoulder.

Washburn was found by LPD at a Price Street address and charged. Police also confiscated the BB gun, three magazines, a pocket knife and a straight knife.

Washburn was arraigned in City Court.
