Carolyn M. Layer went to meet the Lord on February 4, 2015 at Erie Select Specialty Hopital, with her husband, doctors and nurses by her side.  She was born in Beaumont, TX on February 21, 1947 she was the daughter of Henry Edgar and Marie Ollie Meloncon.  She attended Hamshire Fanette School and upon graduation went o beauty school and others.  Carolyn was a licensed hair dresser and licensed floral designer.  She married the love of her life on December 31, 1994 and moved to Lockport where she opened the Lockport Walmart and was manager of the fabric and crafts department, she had worked there for 13 years.  Carolyn loved to knitting, crocheting, painting, needle point, reading, sewing, doing arts and crafts, playing cards and games and enjoyed being with her friends.  She was an excellent seamstress and could make and do anything and had many talents.  Lots of things she would make would come from an idea in her head.  Carolyn also loved to cook and credited a lot when she was young to her “Granny”, she will be sadly missed by everyone who knew her.

Carolyn was predeceased by her parents Henry Edgar and Marie Ollie Meloncon, her brother Henry Dale Edgar and sister Kathryn Mann Luquette.  Also predeceased by her sisters-in-law Theresa Layer, Rita (late John) Kovach and Lois (late Vincent) Lardner.

Carolyn is survived by her loving husband of 20 years Carl J. Layer of Lockport; sister-in-law of Sandra Edgar (Roger) Weidner, Elizabeth (Daniel) Hogan and Paul (Loretta) Layer; niece of Zola (Bruce) Barton and Rita (Dave) Cavanagh; also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to Memorial mass of Saturday, May 9th at 11 AM in All Saints Parish, 76 Church St., Lockport.  Memorial donations to the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry, 814 Willow St., Lockport, NY 14094 or to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 9894 Gilbert Rd., Beaumont, TX 77705 or to the American Lung Association, 210 John Glenn Drive # 3 Buffalo, NY 14228 would be appreciated by the family.
