Lockport police are searching for a man they say shot a 20-
year-old girl on Works Place, behind the Gulf Station at the
corner of Walnut and Washburn streets. (GOOGLE MAPS)
Lockport police are searching for a 5-foot 4-inch male suspect they believe shot a 20-year-old girl Saturday night behind the Gulf Station on Washburn Street.

Officers and K9 units are still combing the area near to the gas station and have someone in mind for the shooting.

"We've got some information of who it may be," said Det. Capt. Brian Wentland. Police are keeping that information close to their bullet-proof vests, though.

Wentland said the shooting occurred around 9 p.m. on Works Place, the alley behind the gas station.

The victim of the shooting, Maria Parete, was transported by Twin City Ambulance to Erie County Medical Center, where she is reportedly surrounded by family.

Parete is known to LPD, both as the sister of Buffalo Police Officer Patricia Parete, who died in 2013 from complication of a gunshot wound she received in 2006, and as one of three perpetrators of a home invasion on Lock Street last March.

Police are asking anyone with any information on the shooting to call the LPD tip line at 439-6707.
