ENP STAFF REPORTS
news@eastniagarapost.com
The victim of a shooting Saturday evening behind the Gulf Station on Washburn Street has been identified as 20-year-old Maria Parete of Lockport.
According to early accounts, Parete was shot around 9 p.m. and taken to Erie County Medical Center, where she was in the emergency room being evaluated, according to hospital officials.
Lockport Police Department officials refuse to comment except to say that a press release will be forthcoming. They had been canvassing the area around the gas station looking for the unknown assailant. No description of an assailant has been given.
Parete is the sister of Buffalo Police Officer Patricia Parete, who was shot in the line of duty in December of 2006 and died as a result of her injuries in February 2013.
UPDATE: Police still searching for shooting suspect

Doesn't sound like " wrong place, wrong time" incident. Ground zero is not a place to walk the streets or allies!
