ENP STAFF REPORTS
news@eastniagarapost.com
The Lockport Family YMCA and Camp Kenan have begun an effort to ensure that all in East Niagara are warm.
The "Tree of Warmth" is part Christmas tree and part collection center where the community can donate hats, gloves, mittens and scarves for those who need them.
The tree is located in the adult lobby of the YMCA, where it will remain until Dec. 23. It started off bare but the "decorations" of mittens, gloves, scarves, knit hats, and ear muffs have begun being added.
The YMCA and Camp Kenan ask that all items be clean and in good or new condition. Handmade knit and crochet mittens, gloves, scarves, and hats are also welcome.
All items can be dropped off at the Lockport Family YMCA, 19 East Ave. or YMCA Camp Kenan at 8571 Lower Lake Road, Barker.
Once the tree is filled, items will be donated to local community missions and area charities (on Dec. 23) for the most impact.
