Lockport is serving as the stage today for yet another Hollywood movie.

Filming for scenes from "Where Heaven and Hell Collide" is being done today and tonight — into the early morning — in the LaFarge stone quarry at Saunders Settlement Road and the William Gregory Bypass.

Crews and equipment started showing up on site earlier today for the filming, said to be mostly night shots. The quarry is being made to look like the Iraqi desert, according to Buffalo-Niagara film commissioner Tim Clark.

"There's a lot of buzz. A lot of activity," said Perry Galdenzi, president of LaFarge Corp. "I'm not sure we expected quite so many people."

On hand are the actors, makeup people, camera people and real war heroes who had experienced amputations. "They're here playing themselves," Galdenzi said.

The stars of the movie, Dean Cain and Kristy Swanson are not part of today's filming, although they were both on hand in Buffalo on Tuesday for filming there.

"Where Heaven and Hell Collide" is the second Hollywood movie to be filmed in Lockport this year. Scenes from Sharknado 2 were shot at the Lockport Caves and Underground Boat Rides in April.

While the Sharknado 2 filming was kept hush hush at the time, the public had advance warning on today's filming due to the nature of the scenes. The war scenes were to include simulated gunfire, simulated explosions and military vehicles. The Niagara County Sheriff's Office sent a warning to area residents on Monday so as not to cause alarm.

Galdenzi is used to explosions at the quarry. But not so much activity.

"It's not our normal routine ... so it's kind of neat," he said.

"Where Heaven and Hell Collide" is set to debut in theaters Memorial Day, 2016.

There's more photos from the set here.
