The Erie Canal Discovery Center will host a series of events to commemorate the 189th anniversary of the opening of the Erie Canal on Oct. 25.
Area residents are invited to participate in celebrating the Big Bridge Birthday — the 100th anniversary of the opening of Lockport’s Big Bridge — at 10 a.m. at the corner of Canal Street and Church streets.
Following the conclusion of the Big Bridge Birthday Celebration, tours of the Flight of Five Restored Locks will be available on the hour and half-hour through 2 p.m. The tours will leave from the Erie Canal Discovery Center at 20 Church Street.
