The Lockport Police Department and Niagara County Sheriff's Office are taking part in the latest National Drug Takeback Initiative from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.
LPD will be accepting prescription drugs at the Lockport Plaza, 282 South Transit St. NCSO will be collecting them at the Sheriff's Office, 5526 Niagara St. Ext.
The National Drug Takeback Initiative is a partnership between local law enforcement at the Drug Enforcement Administration
In April, 780,158 pounds of pills were brought to the 6,072 collection sites that DEA and its 4,423 state, local, and tribal law enforcement partners set up. When added to that collected at previous DEA-coordinated Takeback events, 4.1 million pounds of prescription medications have been removed from circulation.
