ENP STAFF REPORTS

A 45-year-old Geneva man pled guilty to three sex crimes in Niagara County Court last week and could face up to 20 years for his crimes, according to a press release issued by the Niagara County Sheriff's Office on Monday.
Sean M. Vickers entered the guilty pleas in connection to a 2013 investigation conducted by the Niagara County Sheriff's Office Criminal Bureau that stretched over multiple months and into several jurisdictions.
Vickers was convicted in Batavia of multiple sex crimes there and was already facing up to 50 years for those crimes. His Niagara County sentence will run concurrent with the Genesee County sentence.
The Niagara County Sheriff’s Office and the Niagara County District Attorney’s Office had worked jointly with the Batavia Police Department, Genesee County District Attorney’s Office, Niagara County Child Advocacy Center and the Genesee County Justice for Children Advocacy Center.
During the 2013 investigation, Vickers was identified as a Level Three Sex Offender based on a 2008 conviction in New Hampshire. Vickers was criminally charged last year by both the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office and the Batavia Police Department in connection to the sexual abuse of three different children under the age of 15. This abuse took place over a period of several months. He was known to buy the children gifts and offer the family financial support. He would also volunteer to babysit the children and take them on errands, thus giving him access to them without parental supervision.
For the incidents in Niagara County, Vickers pled guilty to second-degree criminal sexual act, first-degree attempted criminal sexual act, and first-degree attempted sexual abuse.
Vickers will return to Niagara County Court for sentencing on Sept. 26.
