ENP STAFF REPORTS

NEWFANE — A Fuller Road man was charged Wednesday evening with unlawful possession of marijuana after a traffic stop on Main Street.
According to the Niagara County Sheriff's Office arrest report, Joshua S. Mellott, 24, 2370 Fuller Road, was stopped by patrol, who knew him to be driving without a valid license. Patrol could immediately smell a very strong odor of raw marijuana emanating from inside the vehicle.
When questioned regarding the odor of raw marijuana emanating from inside the vehicle, Mellott told patrol, "there is about a half ounce of weed in the glove box, and a blunt in the middle console." Patrol then searched the vehicle and located the marijuana and also a glass bowl which is commonly used to smoke marijuana inside the glove box compartment. Patrol also found the cigar filled with marijuana in the cup holder in plain view.
The marijuana and drug paraphernalia were placed into an evidence bag, until later being secured into an NCSO evidence locker. The marijuana will be sent to the laboratory for confirmation.
Mellott was taken to Niagara County Jail where he was held on $250 bail. He was ordered to appear in Town of Newfane Court on Tuesday.
