A West Avenue man was charged with marijuana possession after a traffic stop on Ohio Street Wednesday afternoon.
According to the report filed by the Niagara County Sheriff's Office, Alex Aloisio, 23, 440 West Ave., was seen speeding on Robinson Road in the Town of Lockport and eventually stopped on Ohio Street. When he was interviewed, patrol noticed a smell of marijuana.
Patrol performed a DMV computer check on Aloisio, which revealed him to have an active arrest warrant out of the Town of Niagara for unlawful possession of marijuana. Patrol went back to the listed vehicle and had him exit the vehicle. Patrol asked him if there was anything illegal inside the vehicle and he said that there was marijuana in the center console.
He was arrested on the warrant and charged with possession of marijuana a speeding. He was given a court date for his charges on Aug. 28 in the Town of Lockport and subsequently turned over to Town of Niagara police over without incident.
The suspected marijuana was submitted to the NCSO forensics lab for evidence and analysis.
