Olcott Beach and the beach at Camp Kenan were both closed Thursday by the Niagara County Health Department due to unacceptable levels of E. Coli bacteria present.
According to the Health Department, testing is being done on Lake Ontario beaches once a week. If a beach is found to have unacceptable levels of bacteria, it will remain closed until it it retested and found to be within acceptable limits.
"Swimming in these waters could cause infections of the ear, eye, nose throat and skin as well as cause diarrhea if the water is ingested," the Health Department stated.
