Cold Springs Cemetery will be the host and benefactor
of a fundraiser Sunday. (HEATHER N. GRIMMER /
CONTRIBUTOR)
TOWN OF LOCKPORT — Some of Lockport's most prominent citizens of days gone by are "returning" to help raise money for Cold Springs Cemetery.

The Niagara History Center’s “Step Back in Time Players” will offer a tour of the cemetery at 1 p.m. Sunday, in which the re-enactors will bring to life well-known figures now residing in that cemetery, including trailblazing female physician “Dr. Sarah Lamb Cushing” (Kay Burgess); quarry owner “James Schuler” (Geoff Koplas); early Lowertown physician “Dr. Josiah Skinner” (Charlie Begley); and Lockport settlers “Amy Spalding” (Carol Caisse) and “Lyman Spalding” (Dennis Caisse).

“Step Back in Time Players” dress and speak as their characters, whom they have carefully researched, and give a personalized account of that individual’s life and accomplishments here in our community. They also present their characters within the context of local history, creating a vivid picture of both the person and the world in which he or she lived. Let the “Step Back in time Players” take you back to old Lockport as you walk through Cold Springs Cemetery’s beautiful grounds and support its restoration.

Individual tickets are $5, while family tickets are $15, payable at the gate. Reservations are not necessary. Attendees are asked to use the Route 31 entrance.

For more information, call the Niagara History Center at 434-7433.
