East Niagara Post staff and contributors were on hand Friday evening at a Public Launch and Meet & Greet at the Flight of Five Winery, 2 Pine St.

The co-publishers, Heather N. Grimmer and Scott Leffler, introduced themselves and the news site's contributors, including Advertising and Promotions Consultant Damien Brady, Columnist George Root, and Contributing Photographer Stephen M. Wallace.

While the evening was more social than business, Grimmer and Leffler did offer a formal presentation, explaining the ideas and ideals behind East Niagara Post to those in attendance.

The site is designed to provide up-to-the-minute news on all things going on in East Niagara, from breaking news to features, new businesses, crime, politics and more. Started as a concept in November, the site has grown in size and scope each month since its beginning.

Grimmer will serve as the photographer, and art & graphics editor, having designed the site and taking the vast majority of the photos on it. She will also design the advertising on the site, something that has just been added this month, and will oversee the business operations of East Niagara Post. An award-winning photographer with training in business management, graphic design,  and architecture, Grimmer has owned and operated her own business, HG Design Studios LLC, since July of 2004.

Leffler, meanwhile, will serve as the news editor, overseeing the day-to-day news content and will do the bulk of the writing for the online endeavor. He has previously served as a reporter and editor with the Lockport Union-Sun & Journal, as well as talk show host and production director for WLVL radio.

Leffler noted at the event Friday that the site has grown in scope since July 1 and plans continued expansions. It recently started publishing obituaries from funeral homes in East Niagara. A new nature column by Bob Confer started this month, as well. Book reviews from a noted member of the community should be coming to the site soon, he said.
