Downed trees and power lines along the northern part of the county was just the beginning.
The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for all of East Niagara, warning of torrential downpours and quarter-sized hail through at least 8:45 p.m.
A severe thunderstorm watch remains in effect until midnight for all of western New York.
Residents are urged to seek shelter.
