TOWN OF LOCKPORT — Two separate incidents today found Niagara County Jail inmates facing contraband charges for having pills in the jail.
Around 1 p.m. a cell search turned up about $120 worth of suboxone pills in the possession of Michael R. McGuire, 23, 3131 Woodland Ave., Niagara Falls, according to a report filed by the Niagara County Sheriff's Office.
McGuire was taken to the Town of Lockport Court for arraignment and brought back to jail where he faces an additional $500 bail for the charge. He is to return to the Town of Lockport Court on June 5.
Shortly after 3:30 p.m. more pills turned up, this time on an inmate being processed. Efrain A. Baretto, 35, no permanent address, was found with 13 small white round pills with the number 736 on them. Baretto told patrol that the pills were bupropion, an anti-depressant, which patrol confirmed with poison control.
Jail officials told patrol that he could not leave the jail for arraignment, as he is a federal prisoner. He was given an appearance ticket for Town of Lockport Court on Thursday.
In both instances, the pills were secured by patrol and placed into evidence lockers.
East Niagara Post now publishes garage and yard sales.
