GASPORT — Thieves did $200 damage while stealing $30 worth of copper wire from the cabinets along the railroad tracks at Royalton Center and Bolton roads, as well as Main Street and Central Avenue.

A system signal supervisor for Genesee Valley Transportation Co. Inc., told Niagara County Sheriff's deputies this morning that work had been completed along the railroad lines on May 2. Sometime between then and this morning, the copper wire was stolen and the damage was done to the cabinets.

The complainant described the ground wires as "one-foot long copper wires with a loop on one end."

Patrol checked with Niagara Metals on Rochester Road, but they did not report seeing any copper wire scrapped that matched the description. The investigation is closed pending the discovery of new information.
