ENP STAFF REPORTS
news@eastniagarapost.com
TOWN OF LOCKPORT — A 33-year-old Village mobile home park resident found himself in Eastern Niagara Hospital-Lockport early this morning after sustaining a self-inflicted wound from a BB gun.
Upon being interviewed by the Niagara County Sheriff's Office, the man said that he accidentally shot himself on the interior portion of his right ankle with a Benjamin Repeater CO2 powered BB gun. He said he had been shooting the BB gun at a small target in his living room after loading the BB gun with 10 steel BBs. The man said he must have miscounted the number of BBs, because after he fired 10 rounds, he placed the BB gun on his lap with the barrel pointed to the floor, and then he depressed the trigger, at which time an 11th BB was discharged from the BB gun and penetrated the skin on his right ankle.
Patrol interviewed the man's fiance, who was present when he injured himself, and confirmed his rendition of how the incident occurred. The man was still in the process of seeking medical attention in the emergency room at the time of the report. He and emergency room staff were advised that a report would be filed by patrol.
