A Hartland Road woman called 911 Saturday afternoon to report a chimney fire, but by the time Niagara County Sheriff's deputies arrived it was out.
The woman told patrol around 12:37 p.m. that she believed that the fire was contained and only needed the fire department to clean out her wood burning stove. Hartland Fire Department responded to the scene and confirmed the fire was extinguished by the homeowner.
Minor damage was done to the exterior vinyl siding, but the woman told patrol that she had no interest in filing a report because she only had renters insurance and would just repair the damage at her own expense.
