The Buffalo Sabres new goaltender Michal Neuvirth did his job Friday night, stopping 42 of 44 shots in the Sabres' game against the Florida Panthers.
Unfortunately for Neuvirth, the effort was for naught, as the Sabres could not muster a single goal against Panthers' netminder Roberto Luongo, although the blue and gold did make a last-minute push with the power play.
Panthers goals were scored by Jesse Winchester at 11:11 of the first period and Dmitry Kulikov at 4:04 of the third.
The Sabres next game is Sunday night when Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane and the rest of the Chicago Blackhawks make their way into town.
With the loss, the Sabres are 19-36-8 on the season.
