A 53-year-old Appleton woman was charged Thursday with scheming to defraud and grand larceny over missing funds from the Migrant Ministry Food Pantry of the First Baptist Church in Newfane.

According to the Niagara County Sheriff's Office, Ofelia Carmona was the director of the food pantry, responsible for the management of the food pantry funds.

She was arraigned at the Town of Newfane Court by Justice Bruce Barnes and released on her own recognizance. She has a return court date of April 8.
