A Jockey Road couple told Niagara County Sheriff's deputies Tuesday night that four guns and $150 in cash was taken from their home sometime between noon and 3 p.m.
The Newfane residents said the items taken included a Browning Buck 12 gauge shotgun, a Beretta over/under 12 gauge with walnut stock, a 7.62 mm Hungarian Mouser with nickel barrel and steel butt plate, and a Remington 30-06 with a walnut stock. Also taken was a change jar filled with about $150.
Several footprints were photographed that led north of the residence and appeared to end where four wheeler tracks began. Patrol followed the four wheeler tracks to the backyard of 6353 Jockey Road, where patrol observed an ATV parked inside the garage.
Patrol spoke with residents at three other Jockey Road homes regarding the incident. All neighbors stated they did not observe any suspicious activity and would contact patrol if they recalled anything. CIB will continue the investigation.
