Donald Andrew Olaf Sr., age 73, of Gasport, entered into rest on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at Eastern Niagara Hospital in Lockport.

Born September 19, 1942 in Buffalo, Don is the son of the late Walter and Mary (Okal) Olaf. Don was an avid hunter and fisherman and a member of the Barker Lions Club. He worked at Simonds Saw & Steel in Lockport as a supervisor. He retired in 1983. After retirement he was a self-employed farmer.

Surviving Don is his wife: Patricia (Hendley) Olaf and children:  Debra (Eric) Sutch of Barker and Donald (Debbie) Olaf Jr. of Gasport.  Grandfather of:  Alyssa, Donald III;, Bradley, Nathan Lee, Mark.  Brother of:  John Olaf and Richard (Brenda) Olaf of Akron, NY, Gerald Olaf of Spencer, NY and Mary McNamara of Palm Springs, CA.  Don was predeceased by a sister, Barbara Killion.

There will be no prior visitation.  Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Don’s Life on Saturday, February 13, 2016 from 12 to 3 pm at the Hartland Volunteer Fire Hall, 8945 Ridge Road, Gasport NY.

Duane “Sy” Seiler, age 72, of Gasport, entered into rest at his home on Saturday, November 7, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. Born July 22, 1943 in Lockport he is the son of Fredrick and Erma (Baldwin) Seiler.

Sy is a 1963 graduate of Royalton Hartland High School.   He married Patricia Lee March 29, 1975 in Lockport.  Sy worked as a shipping foreman for Niagara Specialty Metals in Akron, NY retiring in 2005.  Previously he had worked for Simonds Steel for 20 years. As an avid hunter and member of the Hartland Conservation Club, Sy had gone on many hunting trips including Africa and Canada.  Sy also enjoyed gardening.  He had lived in the Royalton area all of his life

Surviving is his wife: Patricia Seiler and children: Duane (Erica Zipp) Seiler of Gasport, Tammy (Greg) Lennon of Lockport, and Angela (Jim) Spark of Gasport.  Brother of:  Sharon Mack of Rochester.  He was predeceased by his brothers:  Frederick, Kenneth, Charles, Richard, David and Michael and a sister:  Mary LaSpada.  Seven grandchildren also survive Sy:  Luke and Evangeline Seiler, Cora and Meghan Lennon, Casey and Caleb Spark and Mark Zipp.  He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to attend visitation at the Sherrie-Bream Funeral Home, 4521 Main Street, Gasport, on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 from 3 – 7 pm.  Funeral Services will be held from the funeral home on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at 11:00 am with the Reverend Rodney Klinzing officiating.  Interment will be in Royalton Mountain Ridge Cemetery, Gasport, NY.

Phyllis Helen Burch (Helwig), age 89, entered into rest on Friday, September 11, 2015 at Odd Fellow and Rebekah Health Care Facility in Lockport.

Born March 10, 1926 in Clarence, Phyllis is the daughter of the late Rollin and Helen (Miller) Helwig.

She had worked at Harrison Radiator in Lockport, retiring in 1985.  Phyllis enjoyed playing Bingo, going to the casino, wintering in Florida, all animals and spending time with her family.

Surviving Phyllis are her children:  Paul (Beverly) Nayman of Middleport, Rollin (Sue) Arnold of Lockport, Paula (Gary) Post of California, Linda (James) Chutko of Gasport, and Rose Marie (Ralph) Tomasov of Barker; step daughters:  Vivian (Dick) Raduns of Middleport and Veronica (Roger) Bedford of Gasport; sister:  Caroline (James) Bartram; brother-in-law:  Thomas Depointe; 24 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  Phyllis was preceded in death by husbands:  Harold Arnold (1967) and Rayburn Burch (2008); a son, Harold Arnold; siblings: Carol Depointe, Franklin Miller and Donald Helwig; and a granddaughter, Renee Arnold.

Family and friends are invited to attend visitation at the Sherrie-Bream Funeral Home, 4521 Main Street, Gasport on Monday, September 14, 2015 from 4 pm until 7 pm.  A memorial service will be held from the funeral home immediately following at 7:00 pm with the Reverend Rodney Klinzing officiating.  Inurnment will be in Hartland Central Cemetery.

Terri Ann (Zimmerman) Hockenberry, entered into rest on August 25, 2015.

Born on June 6, 1969 in Buffalo, Terri is the daughter of Michael and Kathleen (Busch) Zimmerman. Growing up in Gasport, she attended Middleport Elementary and graduated from Roy Hart High School in 1987. Terri attended NCCC. She worked at several nursing homes in the area and at age 31 met her soul mate, Todd Hockenberry. They were married July 20, 2002.

She enjoyed her family, friends, camping, shopping, volunteering at Wrights Corners Fire Company and attending Ridgewood Bible Church.

She is survived by her loving husband of 13 years, Todd Hockenberry; daughters: Lauren (Stephen) Hunter and Kaitlynn Kilmer (William Gambel); granddaughter: Paisley Mae and Terri’s parents: Michael (Sue) Zimmerman and Kathleen Gantzer (the late James); brother: Todd (Trish) Zimmerman and sister: Tamara (Jeff) Panos;  step-sister: Jaime (Jarrod) Dawson; in-laws:  Robert (Sharon) Hockenberry and Linda Hockenberry (the late Dick Upton). Terri is also survived by many nieces, nephews and countless friends.

A celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, August 30, 2015 at 2:00 pm from Ridge Road Bible Church 7073 Ridge Road, Lockport, NY

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate any donations be given to the American Cancer Society or Niagara Hospice.

Gladys “Shortie” Marie Kelkenberg, age 86, of Gasport, entered into rest on Sunday, August 9, 2015 at Absolut Care of Gasport.

Born February 16, 1929 in the town of Somerset, Gladys is the daughter of the late Jack and Lillie (Hillman) Sims. She had worked at Fisher Price in Medina for 25 years, retiring in 1994. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother and enjoyed spending time with her family, doing embroidery and crocheting.

Surviving are her children: Penny (the late William) Morgan of Williamsville and Burton (Joyce) Kelkenberg of Conroe, TX.  She was predeceased by two sons: Gary and Douglas Kelkenberg. Mother-in-law of: Romona Kelkenberg of Rome, TX; and also survived by several grandchildren, great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Gladys was predeceased by siblings:  Charles “Sam” Sims, John “Bill” Sims, Fred “Cub” Sims, Clarence “Pat” Sims, Harry “Louis” Sims and Mildred “Sis” Langendorfer.

There will be no prior visitation. A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements entrusted to the Sherrie-Bream Funeral Home, Gasport, NY. Memorials appreciated to Niagara Hospice.

Marilyn D. Landers (Roszmann), age 72, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 20, 2015.

Born on September 30, 1942, she is the daughter of the late Byron and Jacqueline (St. Onge) Roszmann. Marilyn was a 1960 graduate of Royalton-Hartland Central School and a 1962 graduate of Erie County Technical Institute with a degree in Dental Hygiene. She also attended SUNY at Cortland. On November 10, 1962 Marilyn married Charles R. Landers. They made their home on Wruck Road in Middleport.

Marilyn worked as a dental hygienist for Dr. Stewart Brenner in Lockport and the Doctors William Bellavia and Peter Igoe in Medina, retiring in 2012. She was also a wonderful seamstress and owned Alterations & Creations in Gasport and later moved her sewing business to her home. She enjoyed the many facets of sewing, gardening, reading and her latest activities:  ballroom dancing, and riding snowmobiles and motorcycles. Marilyn loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. She was an active member of the Covenant United Church of Christ in Gasport.

Marilyn was predeceased by her husband on August 21st, 1992 and is survived by her daughter: LeAnne (Bernie) Gaughran of Burt and granddaughters:  Brianna, Lydia and Lauren; a sister: Cheryl (George) Tripp of Port St. Lucie, FL; a sister-in-law: Onnalee (the late James) Landers; several nieces, nephews and her loving companion: Allan Schumacher.

Friends may call at the Sherrie-Bream Funeral Home, 4521 Main Street, Gasport on Thursday, July 23, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral services will be held at the Covenant United Church of Christ, 4449 Main Street, Gasport, NY on Friday, July 24, 2015 at 11:00 am with the Reverend John Tipton officiating. Interment will be in Hartland Central Cemetery, Gasport, NY.

Memorial donations may be made to Covenant United Church of Christ, Niagara Hospice, or Roswell Park Cancer Institute.

Jeanne Audrey Arlington, nee Jeanne Audrey Borst, of Lockport, passed away at her home on Thursday, June 18, 2015.

Jeanne, united in marriage to Robert Arlington at the First English Lutheran Church in Lockport on August 10, 1957, was the daughter of the late Charles and Gladys Borst.

Jeanne was born on June 2, 1931 in Lockport. She was a graduate of Lockport Senior High School (1949) and Millard Fillmore Nursing School (1952). She worked for the Veterans Administration Hospital in Buffalo, treating Korean War Vets, and Lockport Memorial Hospital for 15 years.

Jeanne is lovingly survived by her four children, Frank and his wife Patricia of Bradford, Penn; James and his wife Linda of Kailua-Kona, HI; Nancy and her husband Robert of Sunland, CA; David and his wife Deb of Erie CO; five grandchildren, Tyler, Stefan, Kayla, Colby and Audrey, and one great-grandchild, Dylan.

After the birth of her fourth child, she devoted herself to nurturing and raising her children. Jeanne and Robert loved to travel, voyaging on many cruises in the Caribbean, one to the North and Baltic Seas of Europe, stopping in Russia, a trip to Turkey, several trips to Europe and routine, seasonal trips to their cabin in Beaver River in the Adirondack Mountains. She also loved visiting her children and grandchildren around the country. Jeanne was a voracious reader, loved the classics from the Golden age of Hollywood and was an avid Buffalo Bills and Sabres fan.

Family and friends are invited to a celebration of Jeanne’s life to be held at the Hartland United Methodist Church in Gasport, 8019 Ridge Road, Gasport, NY on Sunday, June 28, 2015, at 4:00 pm where she had been a member since 1962.  Reverend Cheryl Brown will officiate.  Inurnment will be in Hartland Central Cemetery, Columbarium.

Christopher John Clark, age 50, entered into rest on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at his mother’s home in Mesa, Arizona.

Born November 3, 1964 in Patrick AFB, Florida, Christopher is the son of Phillis C. (Pearson) Clark Goheen and the late Earl T. Clark II.

Chris worked at Opportunities Unlimited in Niagara Falls, NY as a janitor. He enjoyed watching and cheering for the Buffalo Bills and the Buffalo Bison sports teams. He was also an avid driver.

Surviving Chris is his loving mother: Phillis (Pearson) Clark Goheen and siblings:  Earl Thomas (Patricia) Clark III of Phoenix, AZ and Anne Elizabeth Clark of Southington, CT. Dear uncle to: Jennifer Congdon and nephew to: Norman (Joan) Pearson, George (Nancy) Pearson, Lee (Polly) Pearson and Everett (Judy) Pearson.  Chris is also survived by several other aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his father:  Earl T. Clark II who died in 1973 and his step-father: Norm Goheen who died in 2002.

Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 27, 2015 at Orangeport Union Cemetery in Gasport. Following services at the graveside, there will be a luncheon served at Covenant United Church of Christ, 4449 Gasport Road, Gasport, NY.

Albert Taylor Salter, age 76, of Lockport, entered into rest on Sunday, May 17, 2015 at Eastern Niagara Hospital in Lockport.  Born December 5, 1938 in Castleberry, Alabama, he is the son of the late Eli H. and Frances E. (Lynch) Salter.

Al lived in Lockport for the past 53 years, he was previously of Wilson. He had worked at Harrison Radiator in Lockport as a welder for 33 years. He enjoyed cars, doing repairs, building and traveling.

Surviving is his loving wife:  Geraldine V. Payne Salter; children: Lynda Jenkins of Covington, LA, Robert (Judy) Salter of Florida, Richard (PJ) Salter of Lockport and loving stepson:  Robert Payne Jr. of California.  Brother of:  Virginia (the late Rudy) Lopez of Lockport, Narvie (Joan) Salter of Burt, NY, Kathy Dietz of Lockport, Beverly (Ed) Keisinger of Medina and the late Hugie, Karl, Carolyn and Linda. Al is also survived by 5 grandchildren:  Molly, Taylor, Steve, Brook and Courtney and several nieces and nephews.

Berniece Ruth Bedford (Wisterman) age 92 of Lockport, entered into rest on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at Orchard Manor Nursing Home in Medina.

Born April 6, 1923 in Royalton, Berniece is the daughter of the late:  Harold and Ethel (Riddle) Wisterman.

Surviving Berniece are her children:  Larry (Mary Ellen) Bedford of Gasport, Dudley Bedford of Lockport, Rita Lynch(Brad Allen) of S. Carolina, Elaine (Kevin) Bruning of Akron, Spencer (Suzanne) Bedford of Lockport, Louanne (the late:  Robert) Rehwaldt of Gasport, Sharon (Robert) Cherry of Gasport, Linda (Mark) Sattelberg of Gasport and Scott Bedford of Lockport. Grandmother to 15 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Sister of the late:  Gordon Wisterman.

James Michael Stevens, age 67, of Middleport, entered into rest on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at Medina Memorial Hospital.

Born August 28, 1947 in Lockport, James is the son of the late Alfred and Mary (nee Forsey) Stevens.

Surviving James is his wife:  Karen L. Stevens (nee Fox); children:  Christopher G. (Stacey) Crosby, Jennifer L. (Ken) Bieniek and Amanda N. Crosby.  He is the loving grandfather of:  Matthew Crosby, Jessica Bieniek, Benjamin Jackson, Ashleigh Miller, Evan Crosby, Corey Jackson and Michael Miller. Brother of: Robert (Bonnie) Stevens and Cynthia (Thomas) Swift.  James is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Robert Warren Seelbinder, age 71, of Middleport, entered into rest on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at his home. Born September 14, 1943 in Albion, NY, Robert is the son of the late Robert and Helen (Baker) Seelbinder.

Robert married Jill Black September 18, 1999 in Middleport. He worked at Delphi Thermal Systems in Lockport as a machinist/mechanic. He was a member of the Medina Conservation Club and NYSSSA and he enjoyed skeet shooting, 4-wheeling, hunting and his pets.

Surviving Robert is his wife: Jill; children: Bobbi Lin (Thomas) DelBello and Chad (Lynn) Seelbinder both of Williamsville; grandchildren: Danielle, Justin, Shelby and Tanner. He is the brother of: Lois Bishop and the late Roger Seelbinder and Gordon Holmes. Also surviving Bob are several nieces and nephews, the Mountain Gang and many dear friends.

Helen May (Bowers) Seward, age 91, entered into rest on Friday, March 27, 2015 at Eastern Niagara Hospital in Lockport.

Born August 7, 1923 in Barker, Helen is the daughter of the late Alfred “Roy” and Florence (Stockton) Bowers. Helen married Floyd Seward on June 28, 1947 at Barker Methodist Church. Mr. Seward died March 6, 2008.

Helen was a 1941 graduate of Barker Central School and was very involved with Barker’s Alumni Association, a 1945 graduate of Houghton College and she received her masters in Music Education in 1971 from the University of Buffalo. She had worked at Barker Central schools as a music teacher, retiring in 1973.  She also substituted in many area schools after retiring. Helen was a member of the Hartland United Methodist Church where she was the choir director for 30 years, and was involved in the Women’s Club and the Elizabeth Circle, the Retired Teachers Association where she was Past President.  She was also a former Vice President and song leader of Delta Kappa Gamma. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Surviving Helen is her daughter:  Susan (William) Harrod of Gasport. Helen was predeceased by her husband: Floyd and her son: Thomas Seward. Mother-in-law of:  Dorothy Seward of Lockport. Grandmother of:  Shannon (Jason) Schultz, Michael (Amy) Colley Jr., Benjamin Seward (McKenzie), Megan (Karl) Newton, Bailey Seward (Jackson), Wendy (Bill) Luth and Gregory (Angela) Harrod. Sister of the late:  Donald R. Bowers. Also survived by 14 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Joan Helen Laity (Quaintance) age 92, of Statesville, North Carolina, previously of Middleport, NY, entered into the Lord’s presence on Sunday, March 1, 2015 at Maple Leaf Health Care Center, Statesville, NC. Born May 31, 1922, Joan is the daughter of the late George and Elizabeth (Pound) Quaintance.

Joan was predeceased by husband Charles Francis Moore on June 2, 1960. Joan then married Bernard Laity in January of 1962.  Bernard died May 1, 1992. She is survived by her children: Charles (Machelle) Moore of Lockport, Kathleen Wright of Stony Point, NC,  George Moore of Lockport, Richard Moore of Stony Point, NC, and Becky Weaver (Laity) (Earl) of Pawleys Island, SC and Son-in-law Frank Scott of Hamilton, Ont.   Joan is predeceased by children:  Lee  Scott and Barbara Anderson.

Surviving Siblings: Gertrude Quaintance of Batavia, NY, Gwen (Donald) Stelley of Oklahoma City, OK, Edward Quaintance of Williamsburg, Va and Stanley (Sharon) Quaintance of Alexander, NY. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren.

Joan gave her heart to the lord in 2009 and enjoyed reading the Bible that was given to her as a gift. Joan belonged to the Elder Care Center in Statesville, NC for three years and enjoyed the company of the other seniors that went daily and also became very close with the staff. In 2012, Joan could no longer attend the center at which time she moved to Maple Leaf Health Care.

Joan enjoyed reading romance novels, she loved being out in the sun with her good book and never without her Very Large Iced Tea. She enjoyed playing Yahtzee and different card and board games.

Chapel services will be held on Friday, March 13, 2015 at 1:00 pm from Acacia Park Cemetery Chapel, 4215 Tonawanda Creek Road, North Tonawanda, NY.
