Team ENP is looking to prove that you can beat City Hall.
We'll be playing game of kickball Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Outwater Park vs. city officials.
Team ENP, led by team captain Heather N. Grimmer, consists of News Editor Scott Leffler; contributors George Root, Craig Bacon, and Bob Confer; intern Jessica Cassick; and our new sales consultant Simon Chavers. Wendy Bacon, wife of Craig, will also be a team member. Contributors Stephen M. Wallace, Jill Keppeler and Jay Berent will not be available to play.
With each team slated to have 12 players (to allow for breaks), we're still looking for a few ballers to add to our team. If you'd like to be a part of Team ENP for the day and help us beat City Hall, it's easy to get in the game. We're holding an online auction of sorts via our Facebook page. Members must "buy in" to the game. We're starting bidding at $15 - with all proceeds going to St. John's Outreach Center.
Team City Hall is led by City Clerk Richelle Pasceri. It consists of Mayor Anne McCaffrey, some members of the Common Council, Mr. Lockport Demetrius Grant, Miss Lockport Lea Sobieraski, and members of the Lockport Police Department. The full team roster has been kept secret, however, likely due to their fear of losing.
The game will be held on the softball diamond sharply at 7 p.m. It is open to the public and free of charge, however, we encourage donations of peanut butter, jelly and/or fluff to donate to the PB&J drive. Baby Ribs will be on hand during the game with food and drink available for sale.
This is a Lockport Sesquicentennial Celebration event.

The Lockport Sesquicentennial Committee is planning a carnival at Outwater Park on July 4.
The three-hour carnival, geared towards families, will include food, games and a bounce house, according to Sesquicentennial Committee member Maria Updegraph.
The committee is planning to offer cotton candy, snow cones and popcorn at reasonable rates and is looking for a Lockport-area service group interested in providing hamburgers and hotdogs as a fundraiser — with the service group keeping the profits.
There will also be a dunk tank, a bounce house, sack races, a duck pond game, watermelon eating contest and more.
The event will take place from noon to 3 p.m., giving families time to rest before the big July 4 fireworks, also at Outwater Park.
Another event being planned during the nine-day birthday celebration is a water balloon fight on July 1 at Altro Park. The free-for-all will be broken into age groups with kids aged 5-8, 9-12, and 13-16 “fighting” at 3 p.m. and then everyone age 17 and up having their turn at 3:30 p.m.
Both events are part of 150 events being planned during the city’s sesquicentennial celebration. Others include the annual downtown Arts & Crafts festival, Taste of Lockport, the Independence Day parade, Lockport Restaurants Days, concerts, crafts, sporting events, and more. For a list of the events confirmed so far, visit Lockport150.com.
More event announcements are forthcoming. The committee is also still looking for other businesses or community groups to add their own events. Events can be added online at Lockport150.com.

As part of the city's 150th birthday, the Lockport Sesquicentennial Committee is asking city restaurants to join in offering special deals for "Restaurant Days" from June 29 - July 1.
"The idea of this event is to bring people from our neighboring area to enjoy our local restaurants," according to committee member Brandy Martucci in a letter sent to local restaurants. "How we plan on making this possible is by asking you to come up with a few 'special' menu options for these three days to be made available for purchase at the price of $15."
For example, restaurants can do a $15 dinner special or even a two-person lunch special for $15.
"We want to showcase your local restaurants and a preview for what people can enjoy during the Taste of Lockport," the letter to restaurants states.
Participating restaurants will be advertised as being part of both Restaurant Days and the Sesquicentennial events.
One restaurant ― the Pleasant Valley Tavern — has already signed on as a participant, with a planned feature of two burgers and two beers for $15, according to PVT manager Simon Chavers.
Any restaurant wishing to take part is asked to email lockport150@gmail.com.
