BUFFALO -- The Buffalo Sabres led the Montreal Candiens for all of nine seconds Thursday night on a Nicolas Deslauriers goal 9:00 into the second period. In the end the Sabres, lost 3-2.
Jake McCabe and Zach Bogosian assisted on the goal, which was followed at 9:09 by an Alex Galchenyuk goal for Montreal, assisted by Max Pacioretty and Mark Barberio. Galchenyuk put Montreal ahead with 44 seconds remaining in the period, assisted by Sven Andrighetto and P.K. Subban.
Brian Gionta tied it for Buffalo at 5:10 of the third period, assisted by Evander Kane and Matt Moulson. But a Torrey Mitchell goal at 13:21 put Montreal back in the lead -- for good. Barberio and Stefan Matteau assisted.
The Sabres next play the Carolina Hurricanes at 1 p.m. Saturday at First Niagara Center.
