Lockport Police Department investigated a scene on Waterman Street early this morning, where a body was found.
LPD Chief Larry Eggert said the unidentified male appeared to be between the ages of 30 and 40 but he wasn't certain. "It was kind of hard to tell because of the way he was dressed."
Eggert said that despite the fact that there was no immediate sign of cause of death, the incident is being handled as a crime. "We always start by treating everything as a crime scene," Eggert said. "So it's being treated as a crime scene."
Police were called to the scene around 8:39 a.m. after someone walking by discovered the body on the ground on Waterman Street near Orchard Street.
Police were not at the scene for long, however.
"There really wasn't much at the crime scene other than the body itself," Eggert said.
UPDATE: LPD releases name of deceased male found on Waterman Street
