ENP STAFF REPORTS
news@eastniagarapost.com
WRIGHTS CORNERS -- A 46-year-old Cambria man was charged today by New York State Police with first-degree felony criminal impersonation, resisting arrest and second-degree harassment after pretending to be a New York State Trooper.
Police say Richard L. Godfrey knocked on the front door of a Ridge Road home while on a bicycle and told the homeowner he was a Trooper in need of assistance. When he was located a short time later by patrols, he became highly combative as he threatened to harm the Trooper several times, the report says.
Godfrey was immediately transported the Niagara County Jail and processed at SP Lockport. He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Lockport Court on Thursday.
Godfrey has been in trouble before, getting charged with trespassing at Canine Helpers -- also on Ridge Road -- in April of 2014.
