ENP STAFF REPORTS
news@eastniagarapost.com
TOWN OF LOCKPORT -- A groomsman at a wedding Saturday had his backpack stolen from Christ Church on Fieldcrest Drive -- and a woman at the wedding reported her purse was rummaged through.
According to the Niagara County Sheriff's Office report, patrol was called to the church around 3 p.m. where they were told that a woman's purse had been gone through, but the suspect only took change -- while leaving a $50 bill.
The complainant told patrol that one of the groomsmen was missing a backpack. About an hour later, patrol spoke with the groomsman, who said the black 511 backpack was taken from a chair in the foyer of the church while the wedding ceremony was being performed. He said it contained his wallet with $51 cash, several credit cards and a set of keys.
The wallet was found by a postal worker on Monday. It was located inside a mailbox on East Avenue in the City of Lockport.
