The nationally acclaimed Missoula Children’s Theatre (MCT) returns to the Kenan Center for a 13th season to present an original musical version of Aladdin with a cast of 50 or more young performers from the community on Saturday.

There will be two performances held at the Historic Palace Theatre -- at 3 and 7 p.m. All seats are $7. Children ages 2 and under are free.

A group audition will take place at 4 p.m. today at the Kenan Center Taylor Theater for children enrolled in grades K-12. Children do not need to have previous stage experience, but enthusiasm is a plus. The audition lasts approximately two hours.

In this version, Aladdin journeys to find a magic lamp in a Cave of (not-so-great) Wonders. Along his way Aladdin seeks answers and advice from wise Genies, a powerful Sultan, and his own Mother to find a way to meet the Princess. However, even with the lamp in hand, Aladdin will have to learn that it takes more than a wish to make a good impression. Full of memorable characters, from lost Penguins to talking Palm Trees, this is an adventure worthy of 1,001 laughs.

Missoula Children’s Theatre is the nation’s largest touring children’s theatre and has been touring extensively for 30 years, from Montana to Japan. MCT’s mission is “the development of lifeskills in children through participation in the performing arts.”

For more information, call the Kenan Center at 433-2617 or go to www.kenancenter.org.
