Betty M. Rising passed away Sunday, Oct 4th after a brave fight with prolonged illness.  Betty was born the 1st child to the late Frank James & Doris (Koeppen) James in Olcott, NY on June 10, 1930. She was married to Donald McIntyre where she had children Cheryl (St Cyr) and Garry McIntyre, who died young from being hit by a drunk driver. Later Betty married Dana L Rising of Lockport where they had two children, Randy Rising and Rhonda (Rising) Haenle. They were married over 50 years at the time of Dana’s death in 2011.  Betty had a 40 year career as a real estate agent. She started this career at John Collins Realty, later spent many years at Hunt Real Estate & ended her career at MJ Peterson in the early 2000’s. Betty had a true love of real estate & helping her clients find that perfect home. She quickly gained a reputation of being an honest and caring real estate agent and this was reflected in the many awards she won over the years.

Betty had many hobbies that she enjoyed- doing ceramics class with both her kids Randy and Rhonda, needlepoint and rug hooking. She also enjoyed interior decorating and had a love of all HGTV shows. She spent many weekends with Dana going to flea markets, auctions or antique shops. They loved going to Letchworth or Alleghany to see the fall foliage. She was a huge supporter of her grandkids and what they were doing in their lives- always able to keep track of who was doing what. Many family functions were spent enjoying chips and dips and hearing the latest kid’s activities.

In later years Betty suffered some physical setbacks that restricted her activities and kept her largely at home. She lived her last years in the comfort of her home with her best friend and Son Randy- who was also her primary caregiver. Her dear Kitty Mindy was never far from her side.

Besides her children Betty is also survived by her grandchildren Brittany, Ian Rising, Mallorie, Nina Haenle, Jamie (Patrick) Brady, Todd and Patrick McIntyre; great grandmother of Nicole and Kelsey Brady; great-great grandmother of Ava Randall; also survived by her brother and sister in law Jack & Sue Rising of Lockport, sister in law of Judy James, Roni James both of Lockport and late Cynthia James; sister of the late Barbara (James) Horton, Ralph James, Donald James, William James, Charles James; also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call Wednesday, Oct. 7th from 10 AM to 12 Noon in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport where services will follow at 12 Noon. Interment in Cold Springs Cemetery.
